Reality TV Recap

So here is my short recap on what I thought of the last episodes of Amazing Race, American Idol, The Biggest Loser, Survivor and America’s Next Top Model.

Amazing Race

Talk about a shocking week in reality TV.  I love the cowboys but after they came in last on the last leg I thought unless they got lucky with flights they were probably going to go home.  Not only did they not go home but they managed to come in first!  This was a first in Amazing Race history.  Where they really pulled ahead was when the teams had to choose between balancing these huge poles on their heads and run across a field or carry these large incense poles up over a 100 stairs.  The cowboys whipped out the balancing task with almost no problems and really pulled ahead as every other team had to haul the incense poles up the stairs.

The cops are starting to grow on me so I was fine with them staying.  The lesbians are still really irritating.  I hate their negative attitude.  The father/daughter team were the ones to go home which was sad but I was ok with it.  They were nice but nothing that really grabbed me.

So not sure what is up with my DVR but it has not been recording Survivor for the past two weeks.  So both weeks I’ve only caught the last 15-20 minutes after putting my daughter to bed.  I don’t know how it happened but somehow Rob went home last week.  That seemed like the dumbest move the Villains could have made.  I don’t know if it was the thought that a merge was coming up or Russell just got tired of having Rob around and rallied up his alliance.  Either way it seemed like they took a stupid page out of the heroes book and went with alliance’s rather than thinking about winning the next week’s challenge.

So I have to admit I was not surprised to see the Villains lost again this week.  It looks like they had a physical immunity challenge and without Rob surprise, surprise, they lost.  I thought they might have woken up and realize the stupidity of their game play and vote out Courtney instead of another strong player but no they vote out Coach.  Yes, Coach is a nut case but physically he is much stronger than Courtney.  So unless next week is a merge or a puzzle immunity challenge then I see Villains going back to Tribal.

American Idol

Another shocking week in reality tv.  None of the singers really grabbed me this week but I was surprised when Mike and Andrew ended up in the bottom two.  Katie has improved but I still don’t see her at the caliber of the others and how Tim is still there is mind boggling.  When it came down to it I thought Andrew was going to go home since he hasn’t really had a great week since he sang Straight Up.  But nope, it was Michael.  No real surprise that the judges used their save to keep Mike in but now I’m wondering if all hell will break loose next week.  If anyone other than Tim and Katie go home next week it will be a shame.

The Biggest Loser

So if you missed last week’s episode two eliminated contestants are now back in the game.  Vicky, from the blue team, was voted back in by the other house guests because she never really had a chance to ever get in the house.  Melissa made it back in after finishing 1000 steps first.  I was so disappointed to see her back.  I hate her attitude.  She is all about game play instead of losing weight.

She just confirmed this in this week’s episode where Allison tells the contestants that at any point during the week they can try to weigh in and if they lost 2% of their body weight they win immunity.  You only get one chance and once someone does it that is it.  Melissa is talking about strategy and complaining how the other contestants aren’t thinking about the game.  If they were then they would have gotten rid of Sam last week.  Grrr, I wish she would just go home again.

In the end Sam won the immunity although with a 10lb weight loss I doubt he really needed it.  In the end Melissa ended up going home again.  Thank goodness!

America’s Next Top Model

I haven’t really gotten into this season and watch it with only half hearted interest which is why I haven’t really blogged about it before.  I had to give it a mention this week though because it was hilarious seeing the girls interact with Nigel.  They had a task where they had to try and break the ice with him playing the shy male model that they would have to shoot a steamy photo shoot with.  It was just so awkward to see all the girls with him.  Plus Nigel is such a hottie!

Amazing Race March 28

I was out last night and then my daughter was sick so I had to do some catch up on Amazing Race.  The teams were finally flying somewhere.  They were going to Seychelles and due to it being such a small place all teams ended up on the same flight.  Why couldn’t they have this when Jeff and Jordan were trying to catch up?

Anyway, once there they had to take a helicopter to the next location.  The first three teams got to leave first and the rest left an hour later.  Caite and Brent actually managed to get on the helicopter first.  For their next task they had to choose between loading up a bunch of coconuts into an ox cart and drive it to another location or they could try and lead a tortoise using a banana to a finish line and then carry a bunch of bananas to another location for their clue.

Caite and Brent miss one coconut and have to go back.  Brent gets pissed and says he’s quitting but they eventually go back.  Ally and Steve do the tortoise quick but then going for their next clue they forget their back packs.  They decide to leave the packs behind rather than lose time going back for them since they have their passports on them.  Carol and Brandy  do the tortoise first but their tortoise wasn’t going in the direction they needed.  So they decide to switch to ox and cart and wind up in last place.  The cowboys do the ox and cart but also forget one coconut and have to go back.  Carol and Brandy also miss one coconut and as they are leaving in their cart it’s funny they make a comment that they can still catch up because someone has got to mess up.  Yes, that would have helped if they hadn’t messed up too.  On their way back to the coconuts the blond actually has the nerve to tell her partner “you” must have missed one of the coconuts.  Why couldn’t it have been her?

So I’m not a big fan of Caite and Brent but Carol and Brandy keep making these rude comments about Caite and Brent which is starting to irk me.  Caite and Brent aren’t the smartest but really give them a break.  Carol and Brandy have messed up just as much as Caite and Brent.

The next clue has them diving for bottles to get their next clue which directs them to a map to the next pit stop.

Steve and Ally end up team #1.  7-Up gives them massages, a chance to dine ocean side right now and then $7000 each.  Dan and Jordan are team #2.  Caite and Brent are team #3 with the cops as team #4.  They both agree they want Carol and Brandy out next although Brent says it’s anonymous instead of unanimous.  LOL.  The cowboys come in as team #5 but they didn’t look in their bottle to find the map to the pit stop.  They left the bottle on the boat so they need to go retrieve it, pull out the map and then check in.  So looks like Brandy and Carol might have a chance.  Dang it!  I want the cow boys to stay.  Hangs, head and groans.  Carol and Brandy are team #5.  Jet and Cord are the last team to arrive.  BUT…it’s a non-elimination leg.  Woo hoo!  So they have the speed bump next leg so guess we’ll see if they have a chance to catch up.  Hopefully they get lucky with flights or somewhere not opening until all teams arrive.

Reality TV Catch Up

Things have been crazy as we have been renovating our house and trying to get it ready to go on the market.  So I’ve fallen behind on my tv recaps.  So here are some quick thoughts on Survivor, Amazing Race and American Idol.

Ok, the heroes tribe has got to be one of the dumbest tries I’ve seen in a long time.  They were so concerned about their alliance that they eliminated some of their strongest players early on instead of focusing on keeping the strong players so they can win immunity challenges.  First went Stephenie and then Tom.  The worst part about Tom going was James was injured and could barely walk and they still kept him.  What the heck?  The only move I agreed with was when JT switched his vote to get Cirie out.  She is definitely a tricky one down the line and no real physical or mental advantage.

The other sad thing about the heroes tribe is they just can’t win probably due to their dumb evictions and partly due to the fact that they can’t seem to solve puzzles.  Even in tonight’s episode both tribes go to tribal council.  One person from each tribe got individual immunity and then the two winners went head to head to win reward.  Candace won immunity which was surprising but then got her butt whipped by Rob so the heroes lost yet again.  I thought it was funny that the heroes couldn’t even win the rock-papers-scissors challenge to see which tribe would compete first.

Anyway, the heroes finally did a smart move and voted James out.  I’m not sure if it’s too late for them though.

On the villains side not much surprise.  Russell and Rob are head to head and thanks to Tyson Rob’s plan to get rid of Russell fails and to add insult to injury Tyson ends up going home because he didn’t stick to the plan.  I think Tyson is no great loss and the Villains still have the advantage.

Amazing Race

I was so bummed out by the latest episode.  I was rooting for Jeff and Jordan.  Jordan just cracked me up by how blonde she behaved.  One of my favorite parts was when they had to find a statue of Joan of Arc and she said wasn’t that the guy with all the animals?

Sadly once they came in last once I knew it was over unless they flew somewhere and they managed to catch up on a flight.  Unfortunately the past two legs have just been driving and no real tough tasks so they just never had a chance to really make up their 2 hour deficit.  They did manage to catch up with Caite and Brent who were in last place just before the pit stop but Caite and Brent finished first.

The worst part for me is I dislike the cops and I hate that they came in first the past couple legs and are so cocky now.  I am also not a fan of the lesbians.  The brunette (I think it’s Brandy) is such a downer.  She is always whining and complaining.  With Jeff and Jordan out I’m rooting for either Jet and Cord, Steve and Allie or Dan and Jordan.

One of my favorite moments in the last episode was Steve using duct tape to repair their car.  He said his wife tossed the tape into their bags saying duct tape can fix anything.  Boy was she right.  I think they would have been in danger of going home if they needed to get a replacement car.

American Idol

So I haven’t been impressed with this season so far.  I’ve liked Crystal pretty much every week.  I like Lee but he really needs to develop some stage presence.   I like Casey and thought he did extremely well last night.  Siobhan always seems to do pretty well but mainly because she can hit some insane notes.  The ones I don’t understand how they are still there are Tim Urban and Katie Stevens.  They are total karaoke singers.  Paige was also horrible last night.  Anyway, I don’t really feel strongly about who wins this season so far.

Amazing Race March 7

Jet and Cord are the first to depart at 10:57pm.  Make your way to Hamburg, Germany (hey, we have an office there!).  Teams must race on foot to find a certain street to search for their next clue.  They find a travel agency and get tickets for 11:10am so they figure they will all be on the same flight.

Aww, it’s so sweet.  Turns out Dan doesn’t like traveling but Jordan told him it would mean the world to him if they ran this race together so Dan did it for him.  Turns out the teams get various connections.  Jet and Cord and the cops arrive first.  Carol and Brandy and Dan and Jordan get in next.  They are racing to make the train to Hamburg but can’t find their track and miss the train.  Either Carol or Brandy starts crying.  I haven’t figured out which one is which yet.  So Joe and Heidi, Brent and Caite and Jeff and Jordan catch up to them.

Jet and Cord arrive at the clue box first and it turns out to be an intersection.  This means they have to join forces with another team to complete the task.  They call over the cops so they have a team to partner with.

Road Block

They must make their way by train to Hamburg Harbor and perform 150 foot bungee jump together.  Joe and Heidi pair up with Steve and Allie.  They meet a guy who shows them the way.  Dan and Jordan and Carol and randy join up.  Jordan and Jeff and Brent and Caite team up.  Jordan and Caite do the task.  Turns out they get on the wrong train.

LOL. The cowboy didn’t want to remove his hat for the jump.  Amazingly it does stay on.  Did he glue it to his head?  Joe and Allie get there next.  Dan and Brandy are next.   Ummm, Brandy watches Joe and Allie and says oh my god it’s upside down.  Yes, it is a bungee jump!  The look on Brandy’s face made me worry she was going to have a heart attack as they fell.  Caite and Jordan show up in last place.

Find the Kaiser Wilhem statue to get their next clue.  They are no longer intersected.  The cops take a taxi and the cowboys take the metro.

The cops show up first.

Soccer or Sauerkraut

Soccer-teams makes their way to a stadium and from the penalty mark have to hit 5 targets.

Sauerkraut- they have to eat a plate full of sauerkraut while a band plays the sauerkraut polka.  They must finish before the song finishes.  If they don’t then they have to start all over.

The cops arrive first and choose sauerkraut.  Ugh, I’ve never tried sauerkraut but not sure I could eat that plateful.  Michael and Louie have no problem.

Teams now have to go to Haifisch Bar and finish a boot of beer.  Hmmm, another problem since I don’t drink beer.

Jet and Cord, Joe and Heidi and Steve and Allie all show up at the detour at the same time.  They all choose soccer.  Ugh, someone tells Jeff and Jordan and Caite and Brent to take the train instead of a cab so guess they are taking the slow way.

At the soccer I don’t know if I could even kick that far.  Joe is saying how his knee is bothering him so he’s having a rough time.  Steve and Allie already hit two of the targets.  Steve is ripping it up and finishes with no problem.  Joe and Heidi can’t hit any target so they switch tasks.  They leave as the cowboys arrive.  I’m impressed by the cowboys.  They are doing pretty well.  They finish third.

Caite and Brent do soccer.  Jeff and Jordan do the sauerkraut.  Jeff and Jordan are afraid their taxi is lost.    Man, don’t get eliminated!  Joe and Heidi arrive at the sauerkraut.  They down it!  Brandy and Carol arrive next.  Brandy is shoveling it in but Carol is taking these small, dainty bites but they finish.

Dan and Jordan arrive at the soccer and finish without a problem.

Jordan and Jeff finally find the sauerkraut place. Man, they need to eat faster.  They are taking small bites and drinking water.  I have my doubts if they will finish.  Caite and Brent get to the soccer.  Turns out Caite’s played soccer since she was 5 and does well.  Jeff and Jordan give up on the sauerkraut and switched to soccer.    Uh oh!  Caite is in pain every time she kicks.  Still she gets 3 of the 5 shots.  Dang it!  Jeff and Jordan are going to be eliminated.

Haifisch Bar

Louie downs most of the beer.  Next they have to go to Beatles-Platz and find a bar that is the pit stop of this leg of the race.  Steve is so excited to drink the beer.  He chugs the whole thing himself.  Allie does the last sip.  Turns out the cowboys haven’t drank before.  Heidi is doing pretty well but Joe is struggling.  He can’t even read the clue when they get it and makes Heidi read it out loud.  The cowboys are still working on the beer when Carol and Brandy show up.  When they finish Jet says he never, ever wants another beer in his life.  Dan and Jordan seem to do pretty well.  Brent has to go outside and throw up while drinking.  Man if that counts I would down the beer and throw it up afterwards.  Jeff downs the beer.

Pit Stop

Michael and Louie are team #1!  They win a discover gift card worth $5000 each.  I swear Louie is drunk from the beer.

Steve and Allie are team #2.  Joe and Heidi are team #3.  Jet and Cord are team #4.  Carol and Brandy are team #5.  Dan and Jordan are team #6 and Jordan seems drunk as well.  Caite and Brent are team #7.  Jeff and Jordan are the last team to arrive.  Yes!  It’s a non-elimination leg.  They get a speed bump which I think teams have a hard time surviving but there is still hope!

Amazing Race 2/22

Leaving the Pit Stop

Jeff and Jordan are first to leave at 3:21am.  Teams must travel by bus to Santiago and then 500+ miles to Puerto Vares (sp?).  Then take a boat and climb to Mirador for their next clue.  THeir taxi driver looks a little clueless at first but gets them to the bus station and find it doesn’t open until 5am.

Brandy and Carol decide to align with Joe and Heidi while they are waiting for the bus to leave.  In Santiago Joe and Heidi hold a spot for Carol and Brandy and that ticks off the other teams.  The four of them get tickets on the earliest bus and of course it sells out.  So they are on the 530pm bus and a bunch of other teams are on the 745pm bus.  The grandmother and daughter catch a 9pm bus.  The cowboys get advice to catch a bus to Temuco and then connect to Puerto Vares.  Caite and Brent and Jeff and Jordan also seem to get the same bus.  In Temuco the cowboys have a 7pm bus and the other four have a 630 bus.  It turns out Jeff and Jordan and Brett and Caite are at the wrong terminal to catch their bus.  The cowboys found out but didn’t tell them.   So by time they get to the terminal they miss their bus.  They decide to try and make the cowboys 7pm bus but they miss it.  Turns out there are no more buses to Puerto Varas or anywhere else that night.  The next bus isn’t until 1am.

Jeff and Cord are the first teams to Puerto Varas.  They drive to Petrohue but find it the marked path doesn’t open until 73am.  Joe and Heidi and Brandy and Carol are next to arrive.  Then Jeff and Jordan and Brent and Caite.  At 730 am Jet and Cord are still the only ones at the trail and get on the boat.  It’s so cute, they each have these little hat protectors for their cowboy hats.  Ugh, the boat ride looks brutal.  I would so be sea sick.

Dan and Jordan have trouble driving stick shift.  It turns out he forgot to turn off the emergency brake.

Jet and Cord are there first.  They have to choose Llama adoration or Condor consternation.

Llama adoration they have to dress a llama up with a blanket and scarf for a traditional festival.

Condor Consternation-teams must dress as birds with feet and 16foot wings.  They then have to take flight and try to soar to the location of the clue.

Jet and Cord choose Llama adoration.  Carol and Brandy and Joe and Heidi also choose llama.  Brent and Caite choose condor.  Jeff and Jordan choose to fly.  The father/daughter choose condor.  The undercover cops choose llama.  The lawyers choose llama.

The grandmother/granddaughter arrive on the last bus but the brothers get lost so there may still be hope.  LOL.  When the brothers have to reverse they can’t figure out how to go reverse in a stick shift so one gets out and pushes the car backwards.  Jody and Shannon are definitely keeping a positive attitude even in last place.

At the llamas Jet and Cord have no problem and finish quickly.  They joke about being the llama whisperer.  LOL. The llama Joe and Heidi choose starts spitting at Heidi and then another one kicks Joe.  They finally find one lying down and finish up.  Then Brandy and Carol finish.  The lawyers arrive after the cops but finish first.  I think the earlier teams might have it easier since I figure the more teams in the coral the more agitated the llamas would get.

At the condors Brent and Caite take off running and go splat in the water.  They say it is freezing but they get the clue.  Jeff and Jordan finish 5th.  Jody and Shannon finish last but not sure how far behind the brothers they were.

Route Info

Teams now need to drive to Onces Bellavista Farm to search for their next clue.

Teams have to race around a farm collecting the 5 fresh ingredients needed to make a German delicacy.  They have to actually milk a cow to get the milk.  Cord has no problem and said he’s actually milked a cow before.  They finish with no problem.  Heidi and Carol work together.  The cow Carol is trying to milk ends up kicking her hand and the one next to Heidi either pees or poops next to her while she is milking.   Ugh, while Caite is waiting for Brent to finish she spits.  I find that so gross when guys do it and it’s even worse seeing a woman doing it.

LOL. Jeff ends up doing the task since apparently Jordan doesn’t even know what a baker’s dozen is.  The cops end up passing the farm.  So the brothers move up to 8th place.  Jody and Shannon move up to 9th place.  I don’t know what happens to the cop but he slips on something in the kitchen.  Uh oh, Shannon was almost done milking and she gets kicked in the head and has to start all over.  She is moving so slow the cop passes her by.  Jody definitely should have done this one.

Pit stop

Teams now have to drive to Gruta De La Virgen.  This park is the pitstop for this leg of the race.  Jet and Cord are team #1.  They each win a sailboat.

Joe and Heidi are team #2, Carol and Brandy are team #3.  Brent and Caite are team #4.  I can’t tell but Jeff and Jordan might be lost.  They run into the cops when they stop for directions to the pit stop.  Turns out the cops went about 19 miles past the farm.  Monique and Shawn are team #5.  Darn it, Jeff and Jordan.  They end up team #6.  At least they are still in.  Steve and Allie are team #7.  Dan and Jordan are team #8.  Michael and Louie are team #9.  Jody and Shannon are the last team to arrive and have been eliminated from the race.

I was impressed with the cowboys although a little surprised they didn’t mention about the bus terminal thing to the other teams.  I thought they would be too nice and that might hurt them.  Glad that Jeff and Jordan are still in.  The more I see of Carol Brandy including the short clip they showed for next week’s episode makes me like them less and less.  I would be happy to see them go.  I have my doubts about the cops.  They seem to mess up an awful lot so unless they straighten that out I don’t see them lasting long.

Amazing Race Premiere

It’s I believe the 16tth season and they start off in LA.

The Teams

Brent and Katie-dating models

Jet and Cord-brothers from Oklahoma (cowboys)

Steve and Allie-father and daughter

Dan and Jordan-brothers, one’s gay and the other’s not

Dana and Adrian-high school sweet hearts married 17 years

Jordan and Jeff-dating long distance (met in Big Brother house, I can’t believe they are still together!  I foresee Jordan crying a lot)

Jodie and Shannon-grandmother and grand-daughter, both triatheletes

Louie and Michael-under cover detectives

Monique and Shawn-best friends and attorneys

Joe and Heidi-married parents

Carol and Brandy-dating gay couple

Teams have their first clue and have to use public transportation to get to the airport.  The first 3 teams to the airport get on the first flight.  The rest are on a flight that leaves an hour later.

Clue: Fly to Santiago, Chile

LOL.  The two black women are running and one of them goes “oohh, black person go ask them directions”.  A bunch of teams make the metro and the next group get their and find out the next train isn’t for 20 minutes.   There are 3 or 4 teams on a bus.  Jeff and Jordan, Dana and Adrian and the two attorneys make the first flight.  Turns out there is a problem with the plane for the first flight!  Uh oh.  Dana and Adrian rebook on the Miami flight that everyone else is on.  Then the other two teams also rebook.  So now everyone is on the same flight.

When they land they need to scramble for buses to go another 60 miles to another city.  Once there they need to make their way to their next clue. 4 teams make the first bus at 12:15.  LOL. The Oklahoma brothers exchanged all their money to Brazilian money so they can’t use it in Chile.  So they and 2 other teams make the 12:30 bus.  The rest are on the 12:20 bus.

Who has the balance of a cat and courage of a lion?  Cable walking-teams must balance 120 feet above the ground and cross the distance the length of a football field.

Jordan does it for their team.  Miss Teen USA does it for her team.  Joe’s on the line, Allie is on the line, Dan is on the line, Brandy is on the line.  Shawn is on the line.

Miss Teen USA finishes first.  Teams have to take this cable car thing down the hill to get to their next clue.  Jordan and Jeff finish second.  Oops, the Miss Teen USA team walk down instead of taking the finicular or whatever the cable car thing is called.

Adrian falls completely off his line.  The safety specialist comes out and says he can take him back or he can try to make it back up.  He ends up having to be pulled back to the beginning.  Dang, he has to start all over.  Adrian ends up being the last one.

Clue: Time to paint the town

Teams must choose 4 cans of pain and supplies.  Carry them up a steep incline and find the house matching their paint color.  They have to paint the house to finish the task.

Jordan and Jeff find their house first.  They finish first.  Brent and Caite (Miss Teen USA) finish next.  LOL.  Steve and Allie end up in someone’s house and start painting their walls.  The guys there are like “I don’t know what these people are doing here” but they don’t seem to speak English.  The guys there are just standing their laughing.  They finish painting and ask the guys for a clue and the guy just shrugs.  Dan and Jordan drop one of their paint brushes and can’t find it.  The cops don’t find their house and start painting some wall with graffiti.

Teams must make their way on foot to a 90 year old chalet, the pit stop for this leg of the race.

Jordan and Jeff are team #1!  They win a trip for 2 to Vancouver.

Brett and Caite are the second team to arrive but since they walked down the hill instead of taking that cable car thing they get a 30 minute penalty.  Monique and Shawne are team #2.  Jet and Cord go from last to team #3.  Dan and Jordan are the fourth to arrive but due to the lost paint brush they incur a 15 minute penalty.  Steve and Allie are team #4 and Joe and Heidi are team #5.  Guess Steve and Allie found the right house.  Carol and Brandy are team #6.   Brett and Caite are team #7.  The brothers are team #8.  Caite says technically they are team #2 (yes, because you cheated by not following the clue!)  The cops are team #9.

In the mean time Adrian fell again.

Jody and Shannon are team #10.  Adrian and Dana are eliminated from the race.

My thoughts

I was shocked to see Jordan and Jeff on this season.  I didn’t know about that before the premiere and am actually shocked that they are still together.  I foresee Jordan having a break down at some point.  The Miss Teen USA team surprised me by doing as well as they did other than misreading one of the clues.    I can’t help but like the cowboys right now.  They are so naive it’s cute.  Not getting good vibes from the lesbian couple so far.  Louie and Michael’s cockiness at the beginning also rubbed me the wrong way.

Amazing Race Finale

Meghan and Cheyne are the first to depart at 11:10am.  Fly to your final destination-Las Vegas, NV.  When they land they have to travel to the Graceland church to get their next clue from Elvis.  The first flight out is at 6:40pm so guess everyone is catching up.  Huh, the other two teams didn’t know who the third team was.  They finally find out at the airport.  Sam and Dan tell Brian and Ericka don’t blame us, blame your taxi driver.  It was his fault.  Yeah right.

They arrive in Vegas and everyone is off running.  Brian and Ericka are out first and Sam and Dan last.  They all get to the chapel at the same time.  The poor couple.  I wonder if the couple getting married knew they were going to be interrupted.  Their next clue is to go to Mandalay Bay.  Brian and Ericka’s cab driver takes a different route from the other two teams and they make it there first.

Who’s ready to climb down a mountain?

The team member will have to do a face down rappelling down 600 feet down the side of the hotel.  Ericka does it since Brian is afraid of heights.  Poor Brian looks like he’s about to puke and he’s not even the one doing it.  Cheyne does it for their team.  This is always a crazy task.  I would love to try it but I think I would totally freak out.  Surprisingly Ericka is enjoying herself but she is moving so slow but she finishes first.

Next clue is to go to The Mirage.

Sam is doing the task for their team.  He’s moving at a pretty good clip but Cheyne finishes first.   Sam and Dan finish third and get a new cab driver.

The Mirage

Join the cast of Love.  They have to join the Cirque du Soleil Love and one member using bungy cords has to bounce their team member high enough to grab a bouquet high up in the air.  Ericka is bouncing and Meghan is bouncing.   Meghan gets a handful of petals but misses the bouquet.  Ericka wants to switch out since Brian is taller.  Meghan gets her bouquet.  Ericka starts yelling at Brian as they switch.  Dan gets the bouquet next.  Ericka is in tears and wants to switch again.  Ericka just needs to calm down.   She’s freaking herself out.  This is her problem.  She psyches herself out.    She finally gets it and then yells at Brian “stop cheering and get me down”.

They have to find the most famous casino in Monaco.  Teams must now figure out the next location is the Monte Carlo.  Sam and Dan are following Meghan and Cheyne’s taxi but neither team has figured out the casino yet.

Sam and Dan finally call someone at The Mandalay Bay and find out it’s the Monte Carlo.  Huh, Ericka knows right off the bat it’s the Monte Carlo.  Sam and Dan arrive first.  Meghan and Cheyne end up going to the Venetian.  They ask a bell hop who says they think it’s the Monte Carlo but isnt’ sure.  So they go into the concierge.  They also say the Monte Carlo.

The Monte Carlo

Teams have to count out a million dollars in poker chips.  There are tables with 8400 chips and they have to count out exactly one million dollars.  Dan is totally freaking out but Sam is keeping a level head.  Brian and Ericka arrive next. Then Meghan and Cheyne.  Meghan and Cheyne seem to be making up ground.  They call done first.  Then Sam and Dan and Brian and Ericka.

Meghan and Cheyne are correct.  Sam and Dan and Brian and Ericka are incorrect.   Sam and Dan finish second.  Brian and Ericka are incorrect again.

Teams must now need to make it to the high roller suite in the MGM Grand where Wayne Newton will tell them the location of the finish line.  Sam and Dan get there second but can’t figure out Wayne’s name.  Brian and Ericka are still arguing about the poker chips.

The finish line

So Wayne Newton tells them that the finish line is “My house.” and that is all he gives them.  Meghan and Cheyne’s cab takes them to his ranch but they can’t find the main entrance.  OMG, do not let Sam and Dan win!  Yes!  Meghan and Cheyne win!!!

Sam and Dan come in second.  Still dislike Dan intensely.  Brian and Ericka are third.  Wonder if they ever got the poker chips counted or they just told them to give up.

Amazing Race November 29

And they are off…

Meghan and Cheyne are the first to depart at 9:46pm.  Make your way to the Spanish Synagogue across town.

At the Synagogue

Make your way to the Ekotechnicke Museum 4 miles outside of town.  This is also the location of the speed bump for Brian and Ericka.

To complete the road block one team member has to go to an empty warehouse filled with dozens of desks and phones and search for one of 5 phones with someone on the other end.  The person on the phone will give them one letter in the word “Franz” and once they figure out his name (Franz Kafka) they will get their next clue.

Meghan does it for their team.  All the phones are ringing and that would drive me crazy after awhile.  On top of all the mayhem they can’t write down the letters so they just have to remember them.  Meghan keeps repeating the letters and tries to come up with an animal for each letter.  Once she gets the letters she has to go to the supervisor’s desk and get a form filled with a bunch of questions to answer and then fill out the letters.  She seems to get “Franz” pretty quickly.

Make your way to Kryocentrum for their next clue.  They head out just as Sam and Dan arrive.  They try to take Sam and Dan’s cab but the guys tell the driver no.  So Meghan asks the driver to call another cab.  That would have been so karma if they had their taxi stolen.

The globe trotters show up as Sam or Dan gets his fifth letter. I think it’s Sam (I must really not like the guys to not have figured out which one is which by this point), is trying to guess the word.  He’s still guessing by time Big Easy gets his letters and starts work on the form.  They decide to work together to figure out the word.  Sam figures it out but then he won’t tell Big Easy what the word is.  He will only tell him it starts with an “f”.  What a jerk!  Poor Big Easy but he keeps up a good attitude saying it is what it is.  Come on Big Easy!  You have to make it to the final 3!  He is still guessing when Brian comes out with all his letters.  He tells Brian he has been there for about 2 1/2 hours.  Poor Big Easy.  Brian figures it out.  They decide to take a 4 hour penalty for not finishing the road block.  If he’s been there 2 1/2 hours too bad they didn’t do it earlier.  Man!  I hope they don’t get eliminated for this.  I think they are screwed since none of the tasks seem like they would trip up a team for 4 hours.  At least Flight Time is totally supportive.

Teams have to strip down to their underwear and enter a kryo-therapy room.  It’s kept at 180 degrees below zero celcius and withstand it for 2 minutes to get their next clue.  This is insane!  I can’t believe athletes do this for training.  I hope they have foot and hand warmers after this.

Teams now have to make their way to Charles Bridge for their next clue.

Speed Bump

They need to find a club M1 and make a 3 stepped process to produce a traditional shot of absinthe.  When they drink the shot they get to continue on.  They get to the bar with half naked ladies dancing on the bar and a party is going on.  Turns out Brian doesn’t drink at all so he says this is going to be a challenge for him.  They say the drink is awful and is super strong but they finish it.

Detour-Legend or Lager

Legend-Teams need to build a golum a figure built of straw and clay.  They have to cover a wooden skeleton with wet clay and then transport the golum across town to the old new synagogue the golem’s traditional home.

Lager-teams have to deliver beer to a crowd of rowdy soccer fans.  They have to carry a total of 30 beers from a brewery through town to a bar.  Once they deliver their beers they get their next clue.

Meghan and Cheyne choose Legend.  These golum things are huge.  Cheyne says he felt the golum was at least 250-300 lbs once it was mudded up.

Sam and Dan do legend.  They drop their golum and crack the arm.  I really dislike Sam and Dan.  Even doing the mud task they can’t stop arguing.  They start transporting but the arm looks like it’s about to fall off.  Ah, so it’s Dan I dislike more out of the two.  Dan is whining about how he can’t do this and Sam is telling him to tough it out.  I hope their golum falls apart.  Seriously.  Ugh, I can’t believe they got the ok with the broken golum.  At least Dan admits he was being a big baby during the detour.

Meghan and Cheyne are totally struggling trying to transport the golum.  Cheyne is in pain and moaning and groaning.  Meghan is trying to talk him through it.  They finally get the rabbis and get their next clue.

Brian and Ericka decide to do lager.  On their first delivery Brian takes 8 drinks and Ericka takes 7.  They pick up what seem to be a couple of drunks following them.  They both end up dropping some of their glasses and Ericka wants to change tasks.  Brian convinces her to stick it out.  They have drunks trying to grab the beers from them.  Ericka ends up carrying 2 and Brian carrying 5.  LOL. Ericka starts yelling at some people trying to grab their drinks and someone makes a comment about her American attitude.  They get up to 19 drinks.  The sun is up by time they finish the task and the poor guy receiving the beer looks passed out.  Wonder if he’s been drinking the beers.

Pit Stop

Teams now need to go to Strelecky Ostrov, the pit stop for this leg of the race.  Dang it!  The globe trotters are probably going home 😦  I think this is the first time I’ve seen a female taxi driver and an attractive one of that drives Meghan and Cheyne to the pit stop.

Meghan and Cheyne are team #1.  They win a 52 inch LCD tv.

Sam and Dan are team #2 dang it.  Brian and Ericka are team #3.  Sigh, I’m ok with them making it through but so sad about the globe trotters.  Guess they are definitely out since they don’t even have to do the detour.  Sad.  If Sam and Dan win I will be so bummed out.  I’m totally rooting for Meghan and Cheyne now.

Amazing Race November 22

Meghan and Cheyne are the first to depart at 12:00am.  They have to fly to Prague and have to find a Vintage Praga in a particular square.  They need to figure out Praga is a car.  OMG, either Sam or Dan thinks Prague is a country!  The first flight out is at 5:20am.  So everyone will catch up at the airport again.  While at the airport Meghan and Cheyne go on the internet and find out a praga is a car.  The globe trotters also figure it out.

All the teams land in Prague.  All the teams other than Brian and Ericka are taking taxis.  Brian and Ericka choose to take the subway.  Brian said someone on the flight told them it was the faster way to get to the old town square.  Meghan and Cheyne get to the square first.  Followed by Sam and Dan.   Sam and Dan had no clue what a praga was but they followed Meghan and Cheyne to the praga car.

Teams now to need to make their way to an outdoor adventure center to search for their next clue.  The globe trotters got a really slow driver but they finally get to the praga.  Brian and Ericka are stuck in traffic.  Okay, Ericka needs to chill.  Brian was just saying they made a bad choice but he’s NOT blaming Ericka or the people who told them the information and she cuts him off saying he went along with the information too and not to blame her.  Duh!  Hello, he was just saying he didn’t blame you and sounded like he was just saying it was bad luck.

Fast and furious or slow and steady?

Fast and furious-teams need to go down a man made white water rafting course.  They have to grab a clue at the end.  If they tip over before getting their clue they will have to start again.

Slow and steady-teams have to pull themselves along a grueling ropes course.  At the end they get their next clue.  Sam and Dan do the rafts.  Meghan and Cheyne do the ropes course.  I would definitely do the ropes course.  The globe trotters new driver makes up some time and they arrive at the adventure park.  They choose the ropes course.

Sam and Dan head out the same time as Meghan and Cheyne.  Immediately Sam and Dan start to argue.  Man, the ropes course looks hard too.  You are pulling your weight along just using your arms.  In the mean time Ericka and Brian are wandering around looking for the praga.  They finally find the car and head to the adventure park.  Sam and Dan are still arguing and then tip over.  They are getting swept down and then have to restart.  Both Meghan and Big Easy are commenting on how the ropes course is harder than it looked.  Big Easy is so tall his legs fall into the water.  Flight Time is doing awesome on the ropes course though!  He is like a natural.

Sam and Dan…still arguing and tip over again.   Flight Time over took Meghan and Cheyne but Big Easy is still struggling.  Meghan says it’s nice to see Big Easy actually struggle for once.  Flight Time finishes first, then Meghan and Cheyne.    Going back down Flight Easy goes first and takes his time to slow Meghan and Cheyne up.  Dan and Sam are STILL arguing and paddling.  Big Easy is still working is still on the ropes course when Meghan and Cheyne climb down.

Meghan and Cheyne have their clue and must need to figure out the words on the clue refer to the Estates Theater.  They need to search there for their next clue.  Big Easy finally finishes while Sam and Dan are still kayaking and Sam and Dan tip over again.  They decide to switch detours.   Brian and Ericka show up just as Sam and Dan switch detours.  Meghan and Cheyne and Big Easy and Flight Time go off together to look for the next location.

Cheyne runs off while Meghan is getting directions.  He wants to take a taxi where as Big Easy and Flight Time wait for a train.  Meghan gets on Cheyne’s case about being rude to everyone.  Cheyne is saying it’s a game.  Meghan is saying it was rude to leave the globe trotters behind after agreeing to work with them.

While Ericka is trying to finish up Sam and Dan are trying to steal Brian and Ericka’s taxi.  Ericka get moving instead of yelling at the guys.  The guys manage to steal the taxi.  One of the guys wasn’t cool with the stealing of the taxi (can’t remember which is which).

Road Block

Who can remain composed under pressure?  Teams have to  search among the 600 seats and find a small mandolin.  When they find one they have to bring it to Don Giovanni on stage to get their next clue.  Cheyne is doing it.  Cheyne finds a full size mandolin and takes it to the singer.  He laughs at him and tells Cheyne no.  Big Easy does the road block for the globe trotters.  Cheyne starts gathering up a bunch of other instruments even though they are not tiny.

Sam does the roadblock.  While waiting Flight Time starts to dance on the stage to the singing.  I love the singer when he laughs at the teams when they bring the wrong instruments.  Cheyne finds his mandolin first.

Teams need to travel by taxi across town to Prague Castle, the pit stop for this leg of the race.  Oh come on globe trotters!  Find your mandolin!  Rats!  Sam and Dan find their mandolin first.  He found it on the same row Big Easy was working his way through.  As Sam and Dan are leaving Brian and Ericka walk in.  I hope karma bites the brothers in the butt and they can’t get a taxi.  Big Easy finds another mandolin case but doesn’t open it.  Ah and there is a mandolin!  Yay!

Ericka does the roadblock but I don’t think she has the patience for this task.  She’s going to get frustrated.  They don’t show much of her until she finds the mandolin.

Pit Stop

Meghan and Cheyne are team #1!  They win a trip for two to Lanai, Hawaii.

Sam and Dan are still looking for a taxi as teh globe trotters come out.   Looks like they get a taxi at the same time.  At the castle Sam and Dan are team #2.  Flight Time and Big Easy are team #3.  Brian and Ericka are team #4 but it turns out to be a non-elimination leg of the race.  So they are still in it.  They will have the speed bump in the next leg of the race.

Ok, so what are you predictions for the winners of the race?   I honestly think it will come down to Meghan and Cheyne and the globe trotters.  I think Ericka is going to slow that team down and I don’t know if Sam and Dan have the team work down to make it.  Guess we will find out.  Go globe trotters!
